Description

#Description

Boat

Built in 2014 and renovated in 2022, M/Y Aml Hayaty is a 38.5-metre mahogany liveaboard designed for diving, kiting and private Red Sea adventures. Her current specification gives an 8.2-metre beam, a maximum of 24 guests and a professional crew of 15. Two 800 hp engines provide a published cruising speed of 12 knots, while two Bauer K14 compressors, a Nitrox system and two RIB tenders support operations away from the mother ship.

The layout separates active and quiet spaces across four levels. The lower deck contains eight guest cabins, crew accommodation and the engine room. The main deck brings together the dive/kite deck, indoor saloon, bar, restaurant and galley. Four additional guest cabins share the sun deck with an outdoor lounge, second bar, bridge and sunbeds, while the fly deck is reserved for open-air sunbathing and navigation space. This distribution gives divers practical access aft while keeping several relaxation areas available between dives.

Inside, the yacht offers air-conditioning, an entertainment system, restaurant seating and chef-prepared meals. Outside are shaded lounges, an open bar, sunbeds and broad viewpoints over the bow and stern. The operator advertises Wi-Fi in selected areas; because offshore reception depends on location and network coverage, continuous connectivity should not be promised.

Photographers have a dedicated camera table, charging stations and a rinse area. These should still be treated as shared working spaces: guests with large housings, drones or multiple battery systems should confirm storage and charging rules in advance. The vessel is also promoted for kite and watersports charters, but a normal dive-safari booking does not automatically include kite equipment, coaching or a watersports programme.

Cabin

The operator's current deck plan is precise: 12 guest cabins for a maximum of 24 guests, and every cabin is described as air-conditioned with a private en-suite bathroom, storage and toiletries. The inventory is divided as follows:

  • 6 Lower-Deck Twin Cabins: two separate single beds, portholes, air-conditioning, private shower/toilet, storage and toiletries.
  • 2 Lower-Deck Queen Cabins: one queen bed, air-conditioning, private shower/toilet, storage and toiletries.
  • 4 Sun-Deck Sea-View Queen Cabins: one queen bed, an elevated sea-view position, air-conditioning, private shower/toilet, storage and toiletries.

This means there are eight lower-deck cabins and four sun-deck cabins. The upper category is physically different because of its deck position and sea-view designation; it should not be sold merely as another lower-deck double. Likewise, “double occupancy” is a pricing term and does not change a twin cabin into a queen-bed cabin. Guests should receive the confirmed deck and bed configuration in writing before payment.

The public pages do not give cabin floor area, mattress measurements, window dimensions, minibar, safe, hair dryer, electrical socket type or whether air-conditioning is individually controlled. None of those features should be promised without confirmation. Cabin requests such as adjacent rooms, a particular deck, twin sharing, single use or mobility considerations remain subject to availability and the vessel's stair-based layout.

Cabin and deck towels plus complimentary toiletries are included on the published mini-safari package. Daily cabin service is not itemised in that package, so its exact frequency should be confirmed. Guests with sensitive skin may prefer to bring their own toiletries, and anyone requiring a specific bedding arrangement should request it before embarkation.

Diving

Aml Hayaty's current dive infrastructure includes two Bauer K14 compressors, a Nitrox system, two RIB tenders, a spacious dive deck, camera table, charging points and a camera rinse area. Standard mini-safari inclusions list 12-litre cylinders and weights. Free Nitrox is advertised for certified Nitrox divers, and certification can be arranged at extra cost. The operator does not publish the standard oxygen percentage, cylinder material, valve type, total cylinder count or maximum simultaneous Nitrox fills; technical requirements must be checked directly.

The four-day northern mini safari advertises up to nine dives, depending on weather and routing. The operator highlights Dolphin House, the Abu Nuhas wreck system and SS Thistlegorm, but the captain may change the order, substitute sites or reduce the dive count for sea state, port instructions, group ability or safety. A check dive is normally used to assess weighting and comfort before more demanding wreck, current or night dives.

Seven-night safaris extend the range to offshore reefs, wreck systems, walls and possible pelagic encounters. The operator does not publish one fixed full-week route on the current general page, so Brothers, Daedalus, Elphinstone or any other named southern site should only be advertised when it appears on the dated departure confirmation. Certification, recent experience and minimum logged-dive requirements can vary by route.

Non-divers, snorkellers and kite groups can use the yacht on appropriate private programmes. However, snorkelling guides, snorkel equipment, kite storage, coaching, launch support and other watersports services are not listed in the standard mini-safari inclusions. They require a written charter or booking specification.

Booking and practical conditions:

  • A 20% non-refundable deposit secures a booking; the balance is due 90 days before departure unless otherwise agreed in writing.
  • Written cancellation 91 days or more before departure forfeits the deposit; 61–90 days forfeits 50%; 0–60 days forfeits 100%.
  • Valid dive-accident insurance is required for divers. Comprehensive travel, cancellation and emergency-evacuation cover is strongly recommended.
  • Routes and dives may change for weather, port restrictions, mechanical or operational reasons; the captain has final authority.
  • Guests must complete medical, liability and operator documentation and be fit for the planned activities.
  • Allow a conservative surface interval—normally at least 24 hours after repetitive liveaboard diving—before flying, following training-agency and medical advice.
  • Dietary, allergy, mobility and equipment-size requirements should be declared before the final confirmation.

Itineraries

Aml Hayaty currently promotes a four-day/three-night northern mini safari, an eight-day/seven-night full safari and tailor-made private charters from Hurghada. Only the mini route names specific headline sites. The programmes below therefore distinguish published facts from representative daily planning; no individual reef, wreck, wildlife encounter or dive count is guaranteed.

Northern Wrecks and Reefs Mini Safari – 4 Days / 3 Nights

The published mini safari is Hurghada-to-Hurghada and advertises up to nine dives. Dolphin House, Abu Nuhas and SS Thistlegorm are the highlighted route objectives, with final selection controlled by weather, traffic, permits and diver level.

Day 1 – Hurghada embarkation
The arranged airport transfer brings guests to the marina according to the booking instructions. After cabin allocation, divers complete medical and liability forms, assemble equipment and attend boat, emergency and dive briefings. The crew checks certification, Nitrox qualification and rental reservations. Dinner and the first night are normally onboard; departure timing is decided by the captain and port authority.

Day 2 – Check dive and Dolphin House sector
A sheltered northern reef is normally used for weighting and equipment checks before the programme builds toward three or four daily dives. Shaab El Erg, widely known as Dolphin House, may be included for reef diving and the possibility of bottlenose dolphins. The animals are wild, sightings cannot be guaranteed and the guide's interaction rules apply. A night dive is possible only at a suitable mooring and for qualified guests.

Day 3 – Abu Nuhas wreck system
Weather permitting, the yacht can move toward Shaab Abu Nuhas, where several wrecks lie around the reef. Giannis D, Carnatic, Chrisoula K and Kimon M present different depths, orientations and cargo histories. A four-day trip will not necessarily visit every wreck. Exterior tours, penetration and dive duration are selected according to certification, recent experience, current and mooring conditions.

Day 4 – Thistlegorm possibility and return
SS Thistlegorm is the best-known objective in the operator's mini-safari promotion. It is a substantial, often current-exposed wreck, and interior routes require appropriate control and experience. If conditions or schedule make Thistlegorm unsuitable, the captain selects a safer northern reef or wreck. Final dives are followed by the return to Hurghada and the arranged transfer. Flights must remain outside the safe post-dive interval.

Full Red Sea Dive Safari – 8 Days / 7 Nights

The full safari is published as a Hurghada round trip with seven nights onboard. Its current description promises famous wreck systems, offshore reefs, walls, more flexibility and possible pelagic encounters, but it does not assign one permanent route name. The following is a realistic operating rhythm, not a guaranteed site list.

Day 1 – Arrival, documentation and equipment setup
Guests board in Hurghada, receive cabins, prepare dive equipment and attend safety briefings. Nitrox certification, insurance and logged experience are checked against the selected departure. The vessel may remain in port overnight before clearance.

Day 2 – Northern check dives
The first dives normally use a manageable reef so guides can assess buoyancy, air use, separation procedures and surface-marker technique. Up to three day dives and a suitable night dive may be planned, but the captain controls the actual schedule.

Day 3 – Wreck-focused sector
Depending on the contracted route, the yacht may use the extra time to explore a northern wreck system with less pressure to rush between sites. Briefings cover current, depth, entry point, overhead restrictions and the difference between exterior observation and trained penetration.

Day 4 – Offshore reef and wall diving
A full week gives the vessel time to reach reefs beyond normal day-boat range. Divers may encounter drop-offs, coral plateaus and blue-water exposure. Negative entries or RIB pickups can be required, making solid buoyancy and controlled ascents important.

Day 5 – Flexible remote-water day
The captain chooses the safest and most rewarding area for the forecast, group qualifications and traffic. Pelagic animals are possible on open-water routes, but sharks, dolphins, rays and turtles are never guaranteed. Three day dives are typical of liveaboard rhythm, with a night dive only where regulations and anchorage permit.

Day 6 – Second major route objective
This day can combine another offshore reef, a historic wreck or a more sheltered coral system. The dated itinerary is decisive: named southern marine parks must not be inferred from the generic “full safari” description. Camera users should prepare housings before briefings and keep the shared table and rinse station organised.

Day 7 – Final dives and Hurghada return
One or two final dives normally complete the programme before the boat starts its return. Equipment is rinsed and dried, rental items are checked, onboard extras are settled and the group prepares for disembarkation. The final-dive time should be recorded for flight planning.

Day 8 – Breakfast and departure
After breakfast, guests disembark for the arranged transfer. A same-day flight is only appropriate when it preserves the required surface interval; travellers should book conservatively rather than rely on a planned early final dive.

Private Dive, Kite and Watersports Charters

Aml Hayaty can be chartered for a mini trip or full week by dive clubs, kite groups, families, friends, retreats and private events. A charter allows the activity mix and pace to be discussed, but it does not override marine-park rules, weather, port authority or the captain's safety decision.

The contract should identify the exact embarkation port, duration, passenger number, cabin allocation, route zone, diving or kiting support, instructor/guide numbers, equipment, fuel and park fees, transfers, food and drinks. Kite coaching, snorkeling supervision, non-diver activities and special events should never be assumed from the yacht's general marketing.

Route and Dive-Site Character

Dolphin House / Shaab El Erg offers a reef-and-lagoon environment associated with bottlenose dolphins. It can work for diving and suitable snorkelling, but responsible distance and guide control remain essential. The reef is the guaranteed attraction; dolphins are not.

Shaab Abu Nuhas is a wreck system rather than one dive. Giannis D, Carnatic, Chrisoula K and Kimon M differ in age, orientation and depth. Wind, mooring availability and experience determine which can be used. Penetration is never included merely because the wreck appears on an itinerary.

SS Thistlegorm combines Second World War history with a large cargo of vehicles and military supplies. Its popularity, depth, current and interior spaces demand disciplined group management. A guide can cancel penetration or the entire dive when conditions are unsuitable.

Full-week offshore diving adds walls, plateaus and blue-water exposure. The current operator page does not name a single compulsory offshore circuit, so the dated departure must be checked for route-specific minimum dives, Advanced certification, Nitrox recommendations and marine-park fees.

Equipment and Travel Preparation

Bring certification cards, dive-insurance evidence, logbook or digital dive history, a computer and the personal safety equipment required by the selected route. Reserve rental sizes, 15-litre or sidemount cylinders, courses and a private guide before arrival. Photographers should carry protected power strips only if approved and must follow the crew's battery-charging rules.

Send flight details early enough for the included transfer to be scheduled. Confirm whether the transfer covers the airport, a named Hurghada hotel or another pickup point. Visa, flights and pre/post-cruise accommodation remain the guest's responsibility unless the confirmation explicitly says otherwise.

Important Planning Notes

  • The four-day programme advertises up to nine dives, not a guaranteed nine.
  • Dolphin House, Abu Nuhas and Thistlegorm are objectives, not fixed daily promises.
  • Free Nitrox requires certification; the course is extra.
  • Wreck penetration, night, deep and current dives require suitable training and experience.
  • The €70 port/marine-park fee and all onboard prices should be rechecked against the dated invoice.
  • Valid dive-accident insurance is mandatory under the operator's current terms.
  • Private charter activities and equipment must be listed in writing.
  • The captain may change any route or dive for safety or operational reasons.

Useful information

Northern Egypt

Best time for diving
The best diving conditions are usually from March to May and from September to November, when water temperatures are comfortable and visibility is excellent. During the summer months from June to August, the water becomes warmer and marine life is very active. In winter months, divers can still enjoy great visibility with fewer crowds. Dolphins, turtles, reef sharks, napoleon wrasse, and large schools of barracuda and jacks are commonly seen throughout the year. Wreck diving is one of the main highlights in this region, including the famous SS Thistlegorm, Dunraven, and Abu Nuhas wrecks.

About temperatures
Air : winter months are between 18°C - 24°C, summer months are between 30°C - 38°C.
Sea : winter months are between 21°C - 24°C, summer months are between 26°C - 30°C.

Wetsuit Recommendation
For the Northern Red Sea liveaboard, we recommend a 5mm full wetsuit during the cooler months (Dec – Apr) and a 3mm full wetsuit during the warmer months (May – Nov). Some divers may also prefer a hooded vest during winter dives, especially on repetitive dives and night dives.

Diver requirement
The Northern Routes are suitable for all levels of divers, including beginners on many itineraries. However, some wreck dives and drift dives may require better buoyancy control and experience with currents. Certain wreck penetration dives may require Advanced Open Water certification and previous wreck diving experience. Most liveaboards provide dive guides and detailed dive briefings before every dive. You can find out more information here : Northern Egypt.

Embarkation / Disembarkation
Depending on which route you are heading to, the embarkation and disembarkation can be from Hurghada (HRG), Marsa Alam (RMF), or Sharm El Sheikh (SSH).

Visa Requirements
Most nationalities can obtain a visa on arrival at Egypt’s international airports. If you opt for a visa on arrival, you’ll need a passport that’s valid for at least six months from your arrival date, a travel itinerary, and documentation to prove accommodation or any booked tours.

Vaccinations
A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required if traveling from a country with a risk of YF virus transmission and ≥9 months of age, including transit >12 hours in an airport located in a country with a risk of YF virus transmission. This includes Eritrea, Rwanda, Somalia, Tanzania, and Zambia.1 In the absence of a vaccination certificate, the person will be detained in quarantine for up to 6 days after departure from an area at risk of YF virus transmission. An overview of the countries to which this applies can be downloaded here: Yellow Fever Risk Countries.

Money Matters
The local currency is the Egyptian Pound (EGP), and ATMs are common, especially in the main tourist areas. Major hotels will usually accept payment by credit card. However, smaller hotels may expect cash and hard currency payments (USD/EUR).

Drones
To bring a drone to Egypt and fly it, you need to receive permission from the country’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). If you do not have documentation of authorization, your drone will be confiscated at customs. However, getting permission to fly a drone from the CAA is difficult. Should you somehow manage to get your drone in, the onboarding screening will detect your drone and one of two things will happen: 1. your drone will be confiscated at the point of arrival and stored at the airport. 2. the drone will be detected and confiscated when you are leaving the country and you’ll be sanctioned for bringing an illegal commodity to Egypt. - So don't risk it, and leave your drone at home if you’re planning to travel to Egypt.

Extending your holiday
We offer a range of hotels/resorts, land-based diving packages, and excursions that can be arranged before or after your liveaboard holiday. Just ask us if you need such a service.
