Description

Boat

Red Sea Aggressor IV is a spacious and stable liveaboard yacht purpose-built for comfort, safety and great diving in the Egyptian Red Sea. At approximately 138 ft (42 m) in length with a 29.5 ft (9 m) beam, she is diesel-powered and cruises comfortably at 10–12 knots, with 220-volt power throughout the vessel.

Red Sea Aggressor IV blends functional space for divers with comfortable social areas. A large salon serves as the central gathering place for relaxation, movies, games and dive briefings. The expansive sun deck features shaded lounging areas, deck chairs, chaise lounges and two hot tubs — perfect places to unwind between dives. A bar area invites guests to enjoy refreshing beverages and socialize.

Red Sea Aggressor IV offer guests delicious meals in various styles, with a variety of Egyptian feasts and local cuisine. If you have any special dietary requirements, please add this to your reservation through the GIS and speak to the yacht chef once onboard so he/she can adequately prepare to meet your needs. You will wake up to fresh fruits, hot entrees, cereals and juices. Lunches are buffet-style, featuring hot soups, homemade breads, salads and sandwiches and/or entrees. Dinners are chef prepared and served each evening and include salads, vegetables, seafood, beef or chicken with a fresh homemade dessert. Certain special dietary and beverage requests may not be available due to the remote nature of this location so we highly recommend you bring these items with you. Pork and turkey are not available.

The onboard beverages selection includes fruit juices, soft drinks, iced water, tea, coffee, and a limited selection of local beer and wine, which are complimentary. Due to the high duty charged on liquor, we suggest you bring your special brand from the U.S. Remember, drinking and diving do not mix. Once you consume alcohol, you become a snorkeler until the next day.

Deck space is ample with dedicated areas for dive gear setup and relaxation. Diving support is provided via 2 dive tenders that shuttle divers to and from prime sites, and onboard compressors including for Nitrox make filling easy.

Itineraries

Brothers/Daedalus/Elphinstone

Big Brother and Little Brother - Daedalus - Elphinstone - Marsa Shoana - Sha'ab Maksour

They are pinnacle islands, meaning that below the surface, their walls plummet hundreds of feet vertically down, without any sandy beaches or shallow reefs around. Surrounded by open ocean, chances of spotting big game, such as rays, sharks, and other pelagic predators, are very high around the islands. Grey Reef Sharks, Thresher Sharks, and Hammerhead schools are residents. Oceanic white tip at certain times of the year. 2 x Wrecks on Big Brother (Aida and Numidia), One night dive is offered on this itinerary as night diving is not offered at the Brothers, regulated by the Egyptian Government, however early dawn dives are offered each morning before breakfast.

St. Johns/Daedaulus

Daedalus - Elphinstone - Marsa Shoana - Sha'ab Maksour - Sha'ab Claude - Malahi - Sha’ab Sataya - St John's

Dives along the South of Egypts Red Sea making Red Sea LiveAboard diving the only way to go. Sites like Sha’ab Claudia offer extensive reefs and coral gardens. Coral tunnels and caverns for divers to explore. Reefs such as Sha’ab Mansour and Sataya, divers go deep on the walls to see schools of barracuda and big-eye trevally and sharks as well as further south to St. John's Reef which is known as world class diving. Dolphin Reef at Sataya offers a coral lagoon where divers can spend one or two dives snorkeling with resident Spinner Dolphin pods. Great sheltered bays for night diving.

Transfers are provided from the Marsa Alam Airport to Port Ghalib Marina when the guests arrive. Sunday arrivals can not be accommodated, everyone must be on board Saturday due to permissions. Please be sure to include your arrival time and/or hotel reservations when completing your online paperwork through the GIS. (Taxis can be arranged to other locations.)

We highly recommend arriving in Hurghada or Port Ghalib at least one day prior to boarding. Early arrival will not only help you get acclimated to the local climate but ensure a timely arrival and that all bags have arrived.

After the Port Authorities have checked all guests’ passports and given clearance to leave, no one can board the boat under any circumstances. No bags or guests can be delivered to the yacht after clearance is given.

The yacht returns to Port Ghalib Friday afternoon between 2 – 4 pm. A sunset cocktail party will be held then guests may go ashore for dinner at one of the restaurants at Port Ghalib. Dinner Friday night is the only meal not provided with the cruise.

Useful information

Southern Egypt

Best time for diving
The Southern Red Sea in Egypt offers excellent diving conditions year round, with warm water, good visibility, and rich marine life throughout the seasons.

Daedalus, Elphinstone & Brothers : The best time is from March to November when sea conditions are calmer and pelagic encounters are more frequent. Oceanic whitetip sharks are commonly seen from October to December, while hammerhead sharks are most frequently encountered from June to September around Daedalus Reef. Thresher sharks can occasionally be spotted early in the morning at Brothers Islands.

St. Johns & Fury Shoals : Best diving conditions are generally from April to November with warm water and excellent visibility. These southern reefs are famous for colorful coral gardens, reef sharks, dolphins, turtles, and abundant macro life. Encounters with manta rays are possible during spring and autumn seasons.

About temperatures
Air : winter months are between 20°C - 26°C, summer months are between 30°C - 40°C.
Sea : winter months are between 22°C - 24°C, summer months are between 27°C - 30°C.

Wetsuit Recommendation
For the Southern Red Sea liveaboards, we recommend a 5mm full wetsuit during the cooler months (Dec – Apr) and a 3mm full wetsuit or shorty during the warmer months (May – Nov).

Diver requirement
The Southern Red Sea routes are generally recommended for Advanced Open Water divers or experienced Open Water divers due to strong currents, deep dives, and blue water drift diving conditions around offshore reefs such as Daedalus, Elphinstone, and Brothers Islands. For St. Johns and Fury Shoals, some itineraries may be suitable for less experienced divers when sea conditions are calm, however good buoyancy control and comfortable drift diving skills are still recommended.

You can find out more information here : Southern Egypt.

Embarkation / Disembarkation
Most Southern Red Sea liveaboard trips depart from either Hurghada, Port Ghalib, or Marsa Alam. Guests usually need to fly into Hurghada International Airport (HRG) or Marsa Alam International Airport (RMF), depending on the itinerary and liveaboard selected.

Visa Requirements
Most nationalities can obtain a visa on arrival at Egypt’s international airports. If you opt for a visa on arrival, you’ll need a passport that’s valid for at least six months from your arrival date, a travel itinerary, and documentation to prove accommodation or any booked tours.

Vaccinations
A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required if traveling from a country with a risk of YF virus transmission and ≥9 months of age, including transit >12 hours in an airport located in a country with a risk of YF virus transmission. This includes Eritrea, Rwanda, Somalia, Tanzania, and Zambia.1 In the absence of a vaccination certificate, the person will be detained in quarantine for up to 6 days after departure from an area at risk of YF virus transmission. An overview of the countries to which this applies can be downloaded here: Yellow Fever Risk Countries.

Money Matters
The local currency is the Egyptian Pound (EGP), and ATMs are common, especially in the main tourist areas. Major hotels will usually accept payment by credit card. However, smaller hotels may expect cash and hard currency payments (USD/EUR).

Drones
To bring a drone to Egypt and fly it, you need to receive permission from the country’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). If you do not have documentation of authorization, your drone will be confiscated at customs. However, getting permission to fly a drone from the CAA is difficult. Should you somehow manage to get your drone in, the onboarding screening will detect your drone and one of two things will happen: 1. your drone will be confiscated at the point of arrival and stored at the airport. 2. the drone will be detected and confiscated when you are leaving the country and you’ll be sanctioned for bringing an illegal commodity to Egypt. - So don't risk it, and leave your drone at home if you’re planning to travel to Egypt.

Extending your holiday
We offer a range of hotels/resorts, land-based diving packages, and excursions that can be arranged before or after your liveaboard holiday. Just ask us if you need such a service.
