Useful information

French Polynesia

Best time for diving
November to April is the wet season with warmer waters and bigger pelagic sightings, while May to October is the dry season, offering calmer seas and excellent visibility. Overall, diving is possible year-round. Visibility typically ranges between 15 - 40 meters, with mild to medium currents. For manta ray encounters, the best time is generally June to October at sites like Fakarava and Rangiroa.

About temperatures
Air : generally ranges between 24°C - 31°C year-round.
Sea : stay warm year-round, between 26°C - 29°C.

Wetsuit Recommendation
A 3 mm wetsuit is usually sufficient year-round, though some divers prefer a 5 mm wetsuit during the cooler dry season.

Diver requirement
We advice recommend to have at least an AOW certification ideally combined with Nitrox. As most of the dive sites are over 18 meters and strong currents can happen. You can find out more information here : French Polynesia

Embarkation / Disembarkation
Liveaboards generally embark and disembark in Papeete (Tahiti), Bora Bora, or Rangiroa, depending on the itinerary.

Visa Requirements
Visitors from most EU countries can enter French Polynesia visa-free for up to 90 days. Proof of onward travel may be requested. For more information, please check French Polynesia Visa Info.

Vaccinations
No specific vaccinations are required for most travelers. It is recommended to be up to date on routine vaccinations. If arriving from areas with yellow fever, proof of vaccination may be requested.

Money Matters
The local currency is CFP Franc (XPF). Euro, USD and major credit cards are widely accepted on liveaboards, in hotels, and in larger restaurants and shops. ATMs are available in major islands.

Drones
Drone usage is allowed but regulated. A permit may be required for commercial use. For personal photography, check local regulations before flying.

Extending your holiday
We offer a range of hotels/resorts, land-based diving packages, and excursions that can be arranged before or after your liveaboard holiday. Just ask us if you need such service.
