Tiger Beach, Bahamas, is one of the world's top destinations for diving with tiger sharks. This species, despite its fearsome reputation, is generally skittish around divers and a thrilling encounter under controlled conditions. In this article, we share what to expect from a tiger shark dive at Tiger Beach, including the best season, dive operators, and safety tips.
Best season for tiger shark diving
Tiger sharks are present in the Bahamas year-round, but the most reliable encounters are from October to January. Water temperature is around 26-28°C (79-82°F) and visibility is typically 25-30m.
Dive operators at Tiger Beach
Several operators run daily feeding dives, including Epic Diving, Neal Watsons BH, and others. Most trips depart from West End, Grand Bahama, and include 2 days of diving (4-6 dives).
Safety and conservation
All reputable operators use baited dives with the sharks in a controlled, attritional manner. There has never been a fatality at Tiger Beach. The Bahamian government has protected sharks in its waters since 2011.
