La Unua is a conscientiously built 25 meters ironwood and teak wood yacht launched in 2017, designed for liveaboard cruising and explore the Komodo National Park in Flores.

Hand-crafted and renovated in 2020 by Sulawesi most reputable phinisi artisans, this traditional phinisi architecture has been shaped with all of the innovative and luxurious materials for an unforgettable onboard liveaboard experience.

La Unua offers flexible and affordable approach to 5 stars hospitality with genuine onboard service combined with unparalleled experience, creating unique memories that will last a lifetime.

La Unua has 3 lounging areas equipped with comfortable sunbed have been set up to make the most of the outstanding scenery of the Komodo Park.

The Sundeck on the top deck is fully equipped to offer relaxing moments with a 360 view on the beautiful surroundings of the Indonesian Seas.

In between the exciting and diverse range of activities such as scuba diving, snorkelling, or hiking, our guests can enjoy a freshly ground coffee, exquisite meals with a mix of buffets and a la carte menus. The chef onboard concocts a fusion cuisine freshly cooked onboard, striving to meet the’ requirements and food preferences of the guests.

La Unua is fully equipped for scuba diving and snorkeling excursions. Guests can enjoy the diverse range of activities such as scuba diving, snorkelling, kayaking, hiking and much more.


Cabin

La Unua features 4 guest cabins, it can welcome up to 7 adults and 1 kid.

All cabins have ensuite bathroom, toiletries and hair dryer, air-conditioning, storage space & cupboards, 220V power plugs.

1 Family Cabin:
Located in the middle of the upper deck, comes with one double bed and an extra bed for teen/kid, with portholes and windows to let in natural light.

1 Family Cabin:
Located in the lower front deck, comes with one double bed and an extra bed for teen/kid, with portholes and windows to let in natural light.

1 Double Cabin:
Located on the upper deck, comes with one double bed, panoramic windows offering a breathtaking 180 degree view. This cabin has a very special atmosphere and comfort and has been equipped with all the necessary amenities.

1 Single Cabin:
Located on the lower deck, comes with one single bed, portholes.


Diving

Itineraries

Komodo National Park

Komodo National Park includes three major islands: Komodo, Rinca and Padar, as well as numerous smaller islands creating a total surface area (marine and land) of 1817km (proposed extensions would bring the total surface area up to 2,321km2). As well as being home to the Komodo dragon, the Park provides refuge for many other notable terrestrial species such as the orange-footed scrub fowl, an endemic rat, and the Timor deer. Moreover, the Park includes one of the richest marine environments including coral reefs, mangroves, seagrass beds, seamounts, and semi-enclosed bays.

Komodo National Park offers a unique underwater environment. You will find everything you have always wanted to see in addition to the colourful coral reefs in tropical waters. You can see more than a hundred different species of fish, dive with manta rays, dolphins and schools of tuna and much more! The geographical position and the mix between the Indian and Pacific Oceans make the diving conditions absolutely perfect, and spectacular. You will dive in a magical environment rich in biodiversity.

Seasons - Water t° - Visibility

Two seasons are distinguished on the island of Flores: - the dry season from April to September; the climatic and navigation conditions are optimal.

The rainy season from November to May: it is the hottest period of the year. The navigation conditions can be more difficult because of the bad weather. Visibility is good throughout the year: between 20 and 30 meters. The water temperature can vary from 22°C to 29°C throughout the year, offering very pleasant diving possibilities.

How to reach Komodo

Komodo Park is located on the island of Flores in the east of the province of Nusa Tenggara and in the heart of the Flores Sea. It is located about 50 km east of the city of Labuan Bajo. If you choose to arrive by air, you will land directly in Labuan Bajo which is located on the island of Flores. Your cruise departure will be from the harbour of this small town.


Komodo Diving - 5D/4N

DAY 1 : Pick up time is around 8 AM. On the way to our first dive, Sebayor Kecil, you will enjoy our light welcome breakfast. After lunch time, you will have the opportunity to try one of our water activities; fishing, kayaking, wakeboard. The boat will stay around Sebayor Kecil for the night where you’ll enjoy the sunset and have dinner in a magic atmosphere.

DAY 2 : Today, our Cruise Director will bring you to the most famous and impressive diving sites of the National Park. After a light breakfast, your first dive will be in Tatawa Besar. After lunch, the boat will move to Gili Lawa Darat where you will dive in The Cauldron & Crystal Rock. In the late afternoon, the boat will move to Teletubby Bay where you will spend the night.

Day 3 : Today you’ll have the opportunity to scuba dive with the famous Manta Rays in Manta point. After your lunch, yYou will dive in Batu Bolong, on of the richest dive site of the Park! After your dives, the boat will move towards Komodo Island; enjoy the crystal clear water and admire the pink sand of « Pantai Merah ».

Day 4 : After breakfast, we will make our way to Pink Beach for a drift dive. After your dive, you will have the opportunity to try one of our water activities; fishing, kayaking, wakeboard. In the afternoon, the boat will move towards Pulau Kalong and her famous bats. After enjoying and admiring these flying friends, our team will prepare your barbecue dinner on the boat.

Day 5 : After breakfast, the boat will sail to Pulau Kelor for one last favorite water activity. Lunch will be served during our way back to Labuan Bajo. All our team will be waiting for you on the main deck at 3pm to say goodbye and let you take our shuttle back.

Useful information

Komodo

Best time for diving
May to October, the weather in Komodo is at its best between April and November. During the wet season (December to March) the weather can get a bit windy, with heavy quick rains, sometimes can cause rough surface conditions. However, liveaboards run trips here year-round.

The visibility in the North is excellent at 30 meters or even more, while it ranges between 10-15 meters in the South.
Some dive sites can have significant currents, whirlpools and see downdrafts. Sea conditions might change very quickly. Other dive sites are more quiet and rich in macro, especially in the South.

About temperatures
Air : range between 23°C - 32°C year-round.
Sea : in the North Komodo it can be around 26°C -29°C, while it gets colder towards the south where it can drop down to 22° C.

Wetsuit Recommendation
We recommend a 3 - 5 mm full wetsuit throughout the year for Komodo area.

Diver requirement
Intermediate to Advanced level, A good level in diving and some experience in drift diving are recommended to participate to Komodo cruise.

Embarkation / Disembarkation
Most of the embarkation / disembarkation will be in Labuan Bajo (LBJ).
Unless the trip is from Bali - Komodo, then the embarkation can be in Bali (DPS).

Visa Requirements
Indonesia offers a free visa on arrival service for many nationalities which allows visitors to stay in the country for up to 30 days. A list of countries that are eligible for visa on arrival can be found on the Indonesian Government's Directorate General of Immigration.

Please note: Immigration officials in Indonesia may ask for proof of onward travel (e.g. a return or onward air ticket).

Vaccinations
Yellow fever vaccination certificate is required for travellers over the age of 9 months arriving from countries with risk of yellow fever transmission.

Money Matters
The local currency is Indonesian Rupiah (IDR), all liveaboards accept cash payments in USD.
Rupiah can be purchased from all major banks and exchange outlets. Credit and debit cards are also accepted in major hotels, restaurants & shops.

Drones
There are very few restrictions on the use of drones for photography purposes within Indonesia. Please check Drone laws in Indonesia for details.

Nitrox is available on La Unua for an additional charge. Larger 15L tanks, rebreather support and tech diving can be arranged on request. Notify our dive team at the time of booking so we can confirm availability and add the surcharge.
Most Komodo liveaboard trips connect via a regional hub. We recommend arriving 1 day before embarkation to recover from travel and to clear any park or transit fees. Airport transfers are included in the trip price.
