Itineraries
A TYPICAL DIVE DAY ABOARD ODYSSEY
Length of trip: Seven (7) nights on board the Odyssey. Saturday to Saturday. Up to 5 dives daily off the mother ship.
Since each day aboard Odyssey offers new adventures, no day is really typical. Nothing is routine and our schedule will vary depending on location.
The day aboard Odyssey begins after a 7:00 a.m. hot breakfast with your first dive briefing around 7:45. You will be able to do two dives before lunch. During lunch we usually move to a new site. After lunch you have the option to either do another dive, or relax on the either of the sundecks or in the privacy of your own stateroom. A late afternoon dive is also offered. Around 6:30 p.m. a sumptuous dinner will be waiting for you. After dinner you may choose to do a night dive. At night guests usually gather in the entertainment lounge to enjoy a movie, or review what was captured that day in video.
Since most of the dive sites in Truk Lagoon are fairly close to each other, it is easy for us to move around. The best part about diving aboard Odyssey is that we don't require everyone to dive at the same time. So it is not unusual for you and your buddy to be the only divers on a 500' wreck. For photographers, this offers more opportunities to shoot those popular scenes without having to wait for others to move out of the way.
TECHNICAL DIVING
Join us aboard The Odyssey for an exciting week of exploring the world’s best wrecks in Truk Lagoon the way they were meant to be dived. Experience the mysteries of the San Francisco Maru – after your descent to the wreck, you’ll find several tanks on her foredeck which still look ready for battle, glance off the port side to see her anchor that once held the mighty ship in place lying lifeless on the lagoon floor. Drop into her holds and discover ammunition waiting to be spent. Feel the history first hand.
Requirements for technical diving with Odyssey Adventures:
Recommended certification Extended Range Diver
Technical buoyancy compensator set up to handle doubles

Useful information
Truk Lagoon
Best time for diving
November to May is generally the best time for diving in Chuuk Lagoon, with calm seas and good visibility. The lagoon is a year-round wreck diving destination, but visibility can drop during the rainy season (June to October). Expect visibility between 15 – 30 meters, with mild currents, making it ideal for both recreational and technical divers.
About temperatures
Air: typically ranges between 27°C – 31°C year-round.
Sea: water is warm year-round, about 28°C – 30°C.
Wetsuit Recommendation
A 3 mm wetsuit is recommended for most divers. Technical divers exploring deeper wrecks may prefer a 5 mm or a shorty with a hood depending on depth and personal comfort.
Diver requirement
Suitable for intermediate to advanced divers, especially for wreck diving enthusiasts. Some wrecks are at depths exceeding 40 meters and may require technical diving experience. Nitrox is highly recommended for extended dives. You can find out more information about diving in this area here: Truk Lagoon
Embarkation / Disembarkation
Liveaboard trips usually embark and disembark from Weno Island (TKK), the main island of Chuuk State.
Visa Requirements
Travelers to Micronesia (including Chuuk) may require a visa depending on nationality. Many nationalities are eligible for 30-day visa-free entry, but it is recommended to check with the Federated States of Micronesia Immigration for the latest requirements.
Vaccinations
Routine vaccinations are recommended, including Hepatitis A and Typhoid. Yellow fever vaccination is only required if arriving from a country with risk of yellow fever transmission.
Money Matters
The local currency is United States Dollar (USD). ATMs are limited, so cash in small denominations is recommended for local purchases. Major credit cards may be accepted in larger hotels.
Drones
Drone use is allowed in Chuuk for photography, but regulations are limited. Please check local rules before flying.
Extending your holiday
We offer a range of hotels/resorts, land-based diving packages, and excursions that can be arranged before or after your liveaboard holiday. Just ask us if you need such service.
