Back from the Sea of Cortez on the Valentina.
The boat was very nice—a bit old, but the crew is very friendly, the food is very good, and the boat is quite practical overall. All dives are done from Zodiacs.
We were lucky enough to see a large group of dolphins, several hundred of them, as well as 3 orcas; unfortunately, all of this was at the surface. The water was really VERY warm, 31/32°C even at 30 meters. There were a few thermoclines here and there, but nothing below 29°C (thanks to El Niño). Consequently, even though it is the season for hammerhead sharks and mobula rays, we weren't lucky enough to see any (except for one hammerhead from a distance for about 2 seconds).
The dives are very pleasant, with lots of life, great atmospheres, schools of fish everywhere, and very playful seals in large numbers. (Even though Los Islotes is closed during the summer for the breeding season, there are plenty of other sites).
