Description

Boat

There are many liveaboards in Indonesia, but very few offer the intimate atmosphere found aboard Busy Girl. Originally built as an Australian fishing vessel from durable Tasmanian Pine and carefully converted into a dedicated dive liveaboard, she has been welcoming divers to the waters of Komodo National Park since 2011.

Unlike larger liveaboards carrying dozens of guests, Busy Girl welcomes only four divers on each departure. This exclusive guest capacity creates a friendly, relaxed atmosphere where every expedition feels more like travelling with close friends than joining a commercial cruise. With fewer guests onboard, the crew can easily adapt the pace of the trip, provide more individual attention and create a highly personalised diving experience.

Life aboard follows the rhythm of the sea. Mornings begin surrounded by the spectacular volcanic landscapes of Komodo before guests enjoy freshly prepared breakfasts overlooking calm bays and rugged islands. Between dives, comfortable outdoor spaces become the perfect place to relax with a coffee, review underwater photographs or simply admire the ever-changing scenery as the vessel cruises towards the next dive site.

The cosy indoor dining area and shaded outdoor lounge offer inviting places to enjoy delicious home-cooked meals inspired by Indonesian and international cuisine. Throughout the expedition, snacks, fresh tropical fruit, tea, coffee and drinking water are available, ensuring guests remain energised throughout the busy diving schedule.

Busy Girl has been designed with practicality in mind. Her sea-level dive deck allows easy entries and exits, while every diver enjoys two dedicated tank stations so equipment preparation remains simple and efficient. Spare cylinders are filled while guests are underwater, allowing the boat to remain peaceful and quiet during surface intervals and overnight.

Although compact in size, Busy Girl's manoeuvrability allows the Captain to approach many dive sites directly, reducing transfer times and maximising time spent exploring Komodo's extraordinary underwater world. Combined with an experienced local crew and knowledgeable Cruise Director, every expedition offers the perfect balance between adventure, comfort and personalised service.

Cabin

Busy Girl accommodates a maximum of 4 guests in only 2 comfortable cabins, ensuring a quiet and exclusive atmosphere throughout every cruise.

Accommodation consists of one spacious Double Cabin with a private ensuite bathroom and one Twin Cabin with a shared bathroom. Both cabins are fully air-conditioned with individually controlled systems, allowing guests to adjust the temperature to their personal comfort after a full day of diving.

Designed for comfort rather than luxury, the cabins provide everything needed for a relaxing stay while maintaining the warm and welcoming character that has made Busy Girl a favourite among divers seeking a more personal liveaboard experience.

Cabin facilities include:

  • Individually controlled air conditioning
  • Comfortable mattresses and quality bedding
  • Ensuite bathroom (Double Cabin)
  • Shared bathroom (Twin Cabin)
  • Complimentary shampoo and soap
  • Storage space for personal belongings
  • Daily housekeeping

With only two cabins onboard, guests enjoy exceptional privacy, peaceful nights and an experience that feels far removed from larger commercial liveaboards.

Diving

Busy Girl has been purpose-built for divers who appreciate flexibility, small groups and maximum time underwater. With only four guests onboard, dive operations remain efficient and unhurried, allowing the Cruise Director to adapt each day according to weather conditions, tides and guest experience.

Every dive begins with a detailed briefing covering marine life, underwater topography and current conditions before guests enter the water directly from the spacious sea-level dive deck or, when appropriate, via the tender for more remote locations.

Typical diving operations include:

  • Up to 4 dives per day depending on itinerary and weather conditions.
  • Night dives whenever conditions permit.
  • Small groups with highly personalised guiding.
  • Two dedicated tank stations per diver.
  • Spacious sea-level dive platform.
  • Easy giant-stride entries and tender support where required.
  • Final diving day planned to respect recommended no-fly intervals.

Komodo National Park is renowned for its incredible marine biodiversity. Throughout the cruise, divers regularly encounter reef sharks, green turtles, giant trevallies, Napoleon wrasse, schools of barracuda and vibrant coral reefs. Seasonal highlights include manta rays, eagle rays and an extraordinary variety of macro life, making every expedition unique for both wide-angle enthusiasts and underwater photographers alike.

Itineraries

6 Days / 5 Nights – Komodo National Park

This six-day expedition explores the remarkable underwater world of Komodo National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site celebrated for its dramatic underwater topography, powerful nutrient-rich currents and extraordinary marine biodiversity. Throughout the journey, guests experience an exciting combination of colourful coral reefs, thrilling drift dives, spectacular marine life and breathtaking island scenery while cruising aboard Busy Girl Liveaboard.

Day 1 – Welcome Aboard & Departure from Labuan Bajo

Guests are welcomed aboard Busy Girl Liveaboard in Labuan Bajo, the gateway to Komodo National Park. After settling into their cabins and completing the registration process, the Cruise Director introduces the crew, reviews the safety procedures and provides an overview of the upcoming expedition.

Following departure, the vessel cruises towards the first dive area where guests complete a relaxed check dive. This first immersion allows everyone to adjust their equipment, become familiar with local conditions and enjoy their first encounter with Komodo's rich marine life.

As the sun sets over the Flores Sea, guests enjoy dinner onboard while the vessel continues towards the central islands of the national park.

Typical dives: - Check Dive - Sunset or Night Dive (weather permitting)

Day 2 – Central Komodo

The second day introduces divers to some of Komodo's most famous central dive sites, renowned for healthy coral reefs, excellent fish life and spectacular underwater scenery.

Powerful currents transport nutrient-rich waters that support enormous schools of fusiliers, snappers and surgeonfish, while reef sharks, turtles and giant trevallies are frequent visitors. Manta rays are commonly encountered at selected cleaning stations depending on the season and tidal conditions.

Between dives, guests enjoy panoramic views of Komodo's rugged volcanic islands while relaxing on the spacious decks.

Typical dive sites may include: - Tatawa Besar - Tatawa Kecil - Siaba Besar - Manta Point

Up to 4 dives.

Day 3 – South Komodo

Southern Komodo offers a completely different underwater environment. Cooler water temperatures create ideal conditions for colourful soft corals, rich macro life and exceptionally healthy reefs.

Divers explore dramatic underwater walls covered with vibrant marine growth while searching for pygmy seahorses, frogfish, nudibranchs and numerous crustaceans. Larger pelagic species also patrol these productive waters, making every dive unique.

Above the surface, secluded bays and impressive volcanic landscapes provide unforgettable scenery throughout the cruise.

Typical dive sites may include: - Cannibal Rock - Yellow Wall - Torpedo Point - Horseshoe Bay

Up to 4 dives.

Day 4 – North Komodo

As the expedition moves north, divers discover some of the park's most iconic sites where stronger currents attract impressive concentrations of marine life.

World-famous dive sites such as Castle Rock and Crystal Rock are celebrated for their dense schools of barracuda, giant trevallies, reef sharks and occasional eagle rays. Colourful hard corals and enormous fish biomass create spectacular wide-angle photography opportunities.

Weather and park conditions permitting, guests may also enjoy a guided visit to Komodo or Rinca Island to observe the legendary Komodo dragons in their natural habitat.

Typical dive sites may include: - Castle Rock - Crystal Rock - Cauldron - Golden Passage

Up to 4 dives.

Day 5 – Northern Reefs & Return Cruise

The final full day of diving allows guests to revisit some of Komodo's beautiful northern reefs before beginning the return journey towards Labuan Bajo.

Calm coral gardens contrast beautifully with exhilarating drift dives, providing excellent opportunities to observe turtles, Napoleon wrasse, reef sharks and countless tropical reef fish. Underwater photographers often spend the final dives capturing the incredible diversity that makes Komodo one of the world's premier diving destinations.

After the final dive, equipment is rinsed and stored while guests relax on deck, exchange photographs and enjoy a farewell dinner celebrating an unforgettable expedition.

Up to 3 dives.

Day 6 – Return to Labuan Bajo

Busy Girl Liveaboard arrives back in Labuan Bajo during the morning.

After breakfast, guests disembark and transfer to the airport or their hotel, taking home unforgettable memories of one of Indonesia's most extraordinary diving destinations.

The itinerary may be adjusted according to weather, sea conditions, tides and National Park regulations to ensure the safest and most rewarding diving experience possible.
